Our team were instrumental in the erection of the Vale of York and the department is headed up by a dedicated Transmission Manager, John Jennings who has 25 years sector specific experience and oversees all projects with his team on a cradle to grave methodology.
Our installation crews have been involved in many transmission projects, including Staythorpe > Grendon, Indian Queens and Bramley > West Weybridge. TPA are currently working on several large scale sites, installing thousands of panels over a six month period.
Our unique selection of portable roadway products enables us to cope with all site requirements, including 'camber panels' to assist with uneven and inclining land and 'steerable' panels to negotiate immovable objects such as trees and fence lines.
Our traditional panels are 3m wide, narrower than some of our competitors', enabling us to access areas even through small gated entrances.
Safety: ALWAYS TPA's first consideration
All TPA staff working on transmission sites are both BESC and Person’s certified. Prior to any work being undertaken we complete the necessary paperwork and DASS forms. TPA embrace and encourage a “safety first” culture and promote the reporting of all incidents which are escalated to all personnel and supervisors working on site. We regularly initiate 'Toolbox Talks' and our team of mobile Supervisors conduct ad hoc site audits in order to ensure that working practices are maintained to our stringent standards.
TPA Transmission projects include:
- Replace conductors - we install EPZ’s as a working platform for winch positions.
- Replacing insulators - we provide access to the tower and a turning area for lorries and tractors.
- Refurbishment programme and installations of a new line - both needing access to remote site, or where the ground needs to be protected, and provide a stable, and safe working platform.
New products for the transmission sector
- Wooden breaker panel - this product was invented and introduced based on feedback from site. It’s now a core product for the transmission market, and fits alongside our aluminium panel system, reducing the likelihood of slips, trips and falls.
- Demarcation posts - our products have been designed not to penetrate the ground.
- Sign/speed frames - our signs have been newly designed to ensure that they don't penetrate the ground.
- Site under construction signs - these have been introduced to clearly demonstrate to site personnel that the site is still under the construction phase.
