The Nimrod R1 aircraft flew into East Midlands Airport last month to retire after it took off for the final time from RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.
The surveillance plane, which was active over Libya in recent months, is now declassified and has become the latest permanent exhibit at East Midlands airport's Aeropark museum.

Hundreds of enthusiasts turned out to see the spy planes final flight to the airport. The Nimrod has been in service since 1974.
RAF teams began stripping the airframe for bits they wanted to keep (including, sadly, the engines) soon after arrival in preparation for its final re-location to the Aeropark on the north side of the airport and positioned near the Vulcan.
TPA were drafted in to provide their market leading Portable Roadway System from the runway to the Aeropark at East Midlands Airport enabling the team to move the Nimrod aircraft over the weekend of 19/20 November 2011.
Client Testimonial.
Many thanks to you and your team for a superb job with the trackway. The aircraft move went exceptionally well and the trackway performed beyond all expectations.
"Fast, efficient, friendly and flexible - TPA Portable Roadways took all the stress out of our Nimrod aircraft move".
