TPA gains OHSAS 18001 Accreditation

TPA Portable Roadways is pleased to announce its accreditation to the OHSAS 18001 certification for workforce health and safety.

This achievement recognises the importance our Company places on safeguarding its employees, our clients and the environment. It also reflects our firm and consistent commitment to the health and safety culture which has been adopted by all at TPA.

This accreditation embraces our full range of portable roadway and access services where we operate in the sectors of; Transmission, Events & Festivals, Rail, Construction, Crane Hire and Film & Television.

OHSAS 18001 is an international standard giving requirements related to health and safety management systems. It enables an organisation to have control over, and knowledge of, all relevant hazards resulting from normal operations and abnormal situations, and improve its performance.

We have maintained a clear and consistent focus on driving our standards ever higher demonstrated by BS8901 being attained in January 2011 and ISO14001 in May 2011.

(Steve Humberstone, Divisional Director, commented) "Achieving the BS OHSAS 18001:2007 certification not only reflects our ongoing commitment to health and safety management, but it also underlines our goal to provide customers with the highest quality products and services at all times."

The application and retention of OHSAS 18001 requires six monthly surveillance visits carried out by a third-party assessor such as SGS.

Tom Henderson, Operations Manager – Support Services, says: “We chose Bridge Consultants to advise us for the OHSAS standard as they have been supporting us in our systems and accreditations since 2009. We find their assessors to be thorough and add value to our organisation.”
