With outdoor events and music festivals throughout the summer months attracting millions of people around the country, no organiser worth their salt would take a chance on either the British weather or Health and Safety fears putting a dampener on their event.
Mixing large numbers of people, vehicles with the typical British weather can spell disaster unless serious thought is applied at the planning stage to safety, security and practicalities should the unthinkable happen. Whether you’re dressed to impress for Royal Ascot or in your wellies for ‘T in the Park, it’s no fun if visitors quite literally get stuck in the mud.
TPA has been supplying award winning, cost effective access solutions to the UK’s leading outdoor events for nearly ten years, ensuring locations are easily accessible, the ground remains intact and the site is free from potential slips, trips and falls. Indeed, over 25 million people last year walked safely across TPA’s products. But it’s not just access that TPA can supply; it’s the piece of mind that the build and recovery schedule will be adhered to. More importantly if things don’t go quite according to plan, the skilled crews have the experience to work with organisers to co-ordinate alternative plans without turning a drama into a crisis.
TPA’s installation crews are handpicked for their suitability to work on individual events, with each installation being projected managed by an experienced member of the operations team. It is this dedication to excellent service that allows over 14 kilometres of equipment to be recovered by three crews in just ten days at T in the Park.
Festival Republic, organisers for many music festivals including Carling Leeds and Reading have worked with TPA for six years at numerous events, and Melvin Benn, Managing Director commented “We have partnered with TPA since 2004 as they have continually demonstrated that their experienced crews are able to deliver on time and on schedule” he added, “As the first contractor to arrive on site, and typically the last to leave, they have shown that we can trust that they will not only adhere to our stringent health and safety standards, but have the flexibility to adapt our build and recovery programme should the great British weather turn inclement. No mean feat when you consider that this year they’ll install more than 23,000 linear metres for our events!”
With over 90 kilometres of roadway panels, enough to go around Australia’s Ayres Rock ten times, the stock holding will increase by a further 1,000 panels this season. The award winning MD40 can be installed quickly using 17 metre telehandlers and be utilised to build tough ‘fortress’ fencing to secure events, and keeping non paying visitors at bay. The range also includes steerable panels and camber panels which provide orthogonal traction to vehicles where required. From a network of regional depots supported by the main head office, stock is dispatched around the country and mainland Europe and is complemented by crowd control barriers, toilets and traffic control systems provided by TPA Site Services division.
With a team spirit based on its ‘can do’ attitude, TPA is proud to supply the Leeds and Reading Festivals, Royal Ascot, Wimbledon, The Open golf and many of the RHS flower shows up and down the country. These large prestigious events are joined by hundreds of smaller local events that also rely on TPA’s knowledge to ensure their visitors enjoy a safe and secure experience- whatever the weather.
